Subject: War Crimes Investigations in Germany

I want to do some research into war crimes investigations in Germany,
particularly incidents in which German civilians were alleged to have
murdered downed Allied airmen. What agency conducted these
investigations and where would those records be archived now? How were
investigations by U.S. authorities handled in the Soviet zone of
occupation? I am aware of the Russelsheim episode. Were there other
cases where local civilians were charged with war crimes? I remember
in Wings of Morning that investigators followed up in allegations
(unfounded) that the crew of B-24 Black Cat was mistreated by
civilians.
