I'll post some of my thoughts
(no way will I set myself up by calling it a "review"
just a few of IMHO thoughts on this book)
"Blood on the Sea" by Robert S. Parkin,
1995, mine softcover, 360 pages.
I got mine for $10.00 at Half Price Books.
An interesting book, covers American Destroyers
lost in WWII. One 'chapter' for each one of the 71.
Each 'chapter' first gives a section on the exploits
of the person the ship named after. Then a recounting
of the DD's actions and what is known of the sinking.
Then some 'hard' data on the ship and class.
'Chapers' on each ship vary from near 3 pages to near 20.
Worthwhile, and worth price.
Way, way, too depressing to think of just reading
straight through (you know how it's going to end,
every ship you begin to care about - gets sunk within
the next 15 pages!!)
Usable sorting/cross sorting of the 71.
Usable as kind of a mini-reference - but IMHO do not
over reley on any single fact from it - some unclear, and
some seem to disagree with other's in small ways.
Anyone else read? Or care to offer thoughts?
