Probably not. In fact, there is considerable question that Manchester could
have been in all the places he claims to have been. I forget the details,
but the charge has been leveled by some critics that he simply co-opted the
experiences of other Marines and wove it into his own narrative without
bothering to tell anybody. But by all means, decide for yourself. I read it
and enjoyed it as a story, and what he describes almost certainly happened
to somebody. A lot of somebodies in fact.
