I remmember that here was a discussion about the rather low German tank
loss numbers during Kursk. I never thought much about. But by a casual
look in another WW2 book I found this piece by Jamnusz Piekallkiwicz
(JP) again:
Of 204 Pather tanks 162 failed [got unoperational], and later
nearly all got in soviet hands. ... The heavy losses of combat
expirenced tank crews caused a strong impact.
So he talks about crew losses during Kursk. But the losses of tanks
were rather low. Could it be, that at Kursk German tanks survieved
most penetration hits with repairable damage but the crew was lost?
