The US military is that good. (Look at the US defense budget. I'd
hope we're getting something for all that.) Now, if all the world's
bad guys would band into an army somewhere and fight "fair", it would
be much more useful. But I digress.

Anyway, the US has the capability to blockade Iceland, establish
air superiority, destroy any German air presence, and bomb any
German position quite accurately. The US also, in that period,
had reasonably large forces trained in amphibious assault. The
doctrine wasn't nearly what they had later, and the equipment
was much more primitive, but how are the Germans going to
stop it?

Germany could not continue to occupy Iceland under those circumstances.
Perhaps German enclaves would hold out, but that's more a matter of
convenience than necessity.
