What's "hairbrain" is your excluding the intended cross posting.
Why don't you just entirely rename the topic, to something like
"oldcoot naysayism" or "Usenet anti-think-tank, via oldcoot".
However, I agree, that an ion thrusted spacecraft for going quickly to/
from Venus would be rather nifty. What else would you do with a spare/
surplus tonne of such highly active ions?
