Subject: Re: NOT RECOGNISING THE PORTABLE HARD DRIVE

Thank you all.!
But doing all.. still the device is not been shown under WINDOWS EXPLORER..!

I would like to give a brief history of my PC which i feel would assist u in
helping me.

My PC is a year old..n last week i found tht it has been affected by
virus..after a virus scan, i found tht is has affected few dll files in
system32..n automatically my antivirus software removed(deleted) few
important dll files..consequently i...
1.Coud not change the system time..(it said the file ur tryin gto access is
removed or moved into different location)
2.Could not open the Regedit...(it said the file you are tryin gto access is
removed or moved into different location)
3..
n things like tht..
So i thought i should re-install the OS.. But i did not re-install a fresh
copy..instead i used the UPGRADE option in it..!
After doing so everything seemed fine....i could change time..open
regedit..n all looked going well...!
And for the information... before Upgrading, i have seen the description
something like "Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB2 Enhanced Controller..." under
Enhanced Controllers..!
But Now ITS MISSING..!

Whats its showing now is..
I have an option "SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS" in DEVICE MANAGER..
under this i have..
>>Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller.
>>Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
>>Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
>>USB Root Hub
>>USB Root Hub
>>USB Root Hub

Thats it..!
Before i had something like.. "Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB2 Enhanced
Controller...". with port number n all..!

please let me know how to get back to my old state.. i mean..how can i make
the description appearring in there..?.. what does it mean in my case.. why
is it not showing now?
Hope this would assit u in helping me..!
Thank you..!
