In any version of Windows, when you left-mouse drag a file from one folder to another folder on the
same drive, it moves the file. When you left-mouse drag a file from one drive, to another drive
(any folder) it copies the file. (That can be changed by holding down the Shift or Ctrl key)
However, if you learn to right-mouse drag a file (either to another folder or to another drive) it
will always give you a menu choice (when you let go the mouse click) to either Copy, Move or Cancel.
