I don't agree with your implication that because something has been
overworked, it has lost its meaning. The meaning is still there,
although one's ego, which might be looking for variety, could try to
impress others using that as an excuse.
If you want to get technical than language in its entirety has been
overworked or overused. Are you ready to throw away the English
language? With what would you replace it?
