Description: The Insurance Risk Management team is responsible for developing and driving enterprise risk management and risk control of insurance activities in the US. A major component of the IRM objectives for the coming years is to continue to strengthen our position as a company with top enterprise risk management capabilities, in a manner that focuses on the added value of risk management.



The IT team supports the Insurance Risk Management applications. The applications are grid based running on Linux and Microsoft Windows.



REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or Actuarial Science.

• 5+ years experience in information technology.

• Experience writing stored procedures and tuning queries in Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 databases.

• Experience with Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

• Development experience in Windows Visual Basic, .NET, C#, ASP.NET and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)

• Demonstrated success in project execution with involvement in multiple projects.

• Excellent communication skills to build relationships across the organization from the business through enterprise IT organization.

• Experience in various software development life methodologies.

• Large enterprise development experience in complex heterogeneous process oriented environments.

• Excellent time management, communication, and organization skills.

• Financial, insurance industry, or actuarial experience



PLUSES

• Experience in Oracle, Informatica, and Business Objects.

• Experience developing grid applications is a plus.

• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), or equivalent



RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the design, development, testing and documentation of insurance applications, utilizing contemporary object oriented tools, techniques, and methodologies.

• Provide technical leadership on software development projects of varying sizes for the full development life cycle.

• Ensure software projects are completed according to project requirements and are properly documented with traceability through project specifications including functional and technical documents.

• Provide IT representation with internal customers and USFS IT areas.

• Lead architecture and design sessions with team members and peers.

• Interact and work directly with customer team members on projects and support issues.

• Build relationships with business customers and peers across the IT organization.

• Facilitate communication upward and across project teams including project status.

• Follow change management and problem management processes.

• Assist in the definition and implementation of architectural improvement measures within the environment.

• Propose and institute software development process improvements.
