Description: Position Summary:



Responsible for the research and development of best practices for all aspects of database management, including environment configuration, physical design, and software upgrades. Work with existing infrastructure DBA support group to implement recommendations/solutions. Proactively monitor database performance including database alerts/errors , application resource consumption, user query activity and index performance. Participate in the daily extract transform load activities including overseeing the environmental control system job scheduler, SQL script review and control processing. Research and resolve all production problems by initiating action and evaluating issues to develop alternative solutions. Research and recommend new products, tools and technology related to Oracle Databases and BI/OLAP technologies. Work through the full life cycle development of new data warehouse implementations.



Requirements



Bachelor's degree related to Information Technology with a minimum of five (5) years experience as Senior Systems Analyst providing DBA support for Oracle databases, or a minimum of ten (10) years equivalent work experience; Requires strong Oracle RDBMS and SQL Server skills and experience in data analysis; Must have excellent written and oral communications, presentation and documentation skills. Ability to work in a team environment or as an individual contributor required. Must have proficient time management skills, and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; Must exhibit ability to act independently in assessing proper solution or developing action plans to resolve production processing issues and database configurations. Must be able to react to critical business needs in a timely manner with limited guidance.



Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:



Proficient in: Programming Languages: SQL, PL/SQL, WebFocus; SQL Editors: PL/SQL Developer; Databases: Oracle RDBMS, SQL Server, Mainframe DB2; Experience with Microsoft VSS, job scheduling software, Relational and BI/OLAP database reporting tools, data modeling tools; Knowledge of Financial transactions and reporting preferred. Knowledge of multi-tiered Web based reporting applications a plus.

Occasional off-hour development and support activitites required.
