Programmer Co-op

The U. S. Steel Student Employment Program has been designed for the student actively seeking a Bachelor’s degree inComputer Science, Information Science, or Computer Engineering. The program provides the student with the opportunity to gain meaningful “hands on” work experience in theBusiness Service Centerorganization of a Fortune 500 Company. Responsibilities could be as follows:

· Participate in software development and implementation of projects from concept through completion in accordance with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) § Work independently and with minimal direction in the areas of operations, security, and software installation § Document customized systems as they are § Write custom programs as required for software implementation, application interfaces, reports and inquiry screens

· Accurately design, develop and implement programs and systems to meet identified current and future business needs in accordance with current SOPs

· Recommend and accurately implement automated solutions in accordance with current SOPs

· Accurately perform and assume other duties and responsibilities in accordance with current SOPs as may be required at the direction of the Process Manager/Team Manager

If your school has a program that permits the granting of credits for this work experience, arrangements may be made to accommodate this by agreement between your Academic Advisor and U. S. Steel
