The Web Developer II reports to the Manager of Web Development within the User Experience department, and essentially bridges the gap between the Creative and Engineering teams. They work closely with Graphic Designers, Information Architects, Marketing teams, and Project Management teams to maintain our current webstores, as well build new webstores for newly acquired partners. The primary focus of the Web Development team is the Presentation Layer that supports GSI¡¦s partner webstores, utilizing technologies such as HTML/XHTML, CSS/CSS2, JSP and Javascript.



Responsibilities

„X Develop pixel-perfect Presentation Layer / GUIs based on functional specifications, requirements, and comps from design team.

„X Collaborate with Art Director / Designer, Information Architects and Project Leads in the development of Information Architecture Design Documentation for new site builds.

„X Execute on small projects for maintenance of current webstores.

„X Act as technical advisor to Graphic Designers, Information Architects, and Marketing teams in assessing proposed project feasibility given current webstore functionality.

„X Function independently on project assignments with minimal supervision.

„X Display a high level of attention to detail.

„X Exhibit a passion for researching and learning emerging web technologies.

Requirements

„X Minimum 2-3 years experience hand-coding table-less, XHTML/CSS layouts.

„X Expertise in the usage of CSS / CSS2.

„X Passionate about producing clean, standards-based semantic mark-up.

„X Experience using JSP to develop dynamic websites.

„X Proficient with XML.

„X Intermediate to advanced Javascript experience; ability to write Object-oriented Javascript, or at minimum have experience using any of the industry-standard Javascript libraries such as prototype, scriptaculous, dojo, etc.

„X Solid understanding of development best practices for Search Engine Optimization and Accessibility.

„X Proficient with Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks, and in image optimization techniques.

„X Understanding of browser capabilities and design constraints on the web, with expertise in developing and testing across multiple browsers & platforms.

„X Strong attention to detail, good communications skills, and a positive attitude.

„X Experience in managing multiple projects on tight schedules.

„X Prior experience in e-commerce development is preferred.

„X Ability to demonstrate previous work via URLs
