Position Description: Relational Database Programmer/Modeler The position will work with the Quantitative Analysts and Quantitative Developers in ERM to design, develop, and support data collection and persistence solutions in support of a variety of analytical applications. The Quantitative Analysis Department is responsible for analytical modeling in areas of Market, Credit and Operational Risk, is involved in development of models for Economic Capital and Asset & Liability analyses and assists in deployment of risk analytics systems throughout AIG. To that end, the candidate will need to: - Translate business requirements into enterprise data architecture solutions - Design logical models and implement physical database models for business applications and data warehouse initiatives - Design relational databases and develop database applications. - Provide operational support including: implementing stored procedures for maintaining data quality and referential integrity; conducting performance tuning and optimization - Work with database administrators and development staff to ensure consistent usage, data standards and quality of delivery - Provide oversight for all activities related to database, data quality and data consolidation using standard data modeling methodologies and processes Additional Requirements - Assist with the implementation of an ERM-wide data architecture and subsequently leverage its components to deliver data to analytical systems - Participate as necessary in ERM-wide technology initiative and forums in order to develop and promulgate (data) technology standards and reusable components - Develop and maintain a working knowledge of risk management and capital markets instruments Qualifications - Minimum of 3 years experience - BS/MS in Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics - Knowledge of finance/capital markets/risk preferred - Strong data modeling skills - Proficiency with modeling tools (ERWin is Preferred) - Strong database design, development, testing and turning skills - Hands on experience as a relational database programmer using Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL and analytical functions - Development experience with XML including the creation and maintenance of XML schemas - Hands on experience in designing and implementing multi-dimensional data warehouse preferred - Working experience with Unix environment - Proficiency with Unix scripting languages, such as Shell or Perl - Analytical and problem solving skills - Communication skills and team player - Development experience with Java, C/C++ desirable
