Description: This is an excellent opportunity for a strong z/OS/MVS Systems Programmer who is seeking a challenging position within a highly technical environment.



In this capacity your responsibilities will be as follows:

* Administration of mainframe operating systems software including z/OS/MVS, Websphere, CICS, VTAM, RACF, TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, LPARs, COBOL, JCL, PROC’s, PARM’s and copybooks. 

* Installing new releases and applying PTFs and new releases. 

* System backup and recovery.

* Maintaining data files and monitoring system configuration to ensure data integrity.

* Supporting new systems, existing applications and those of 3rd party vendors.

* Developing, planning and implementing mainframe software.

* Evaluating and recommending changes to current and future system software requirements to meet the department's needs.

* Establishing and meeting service Level Agreements (SLA's).

* Insuring system performance, redundancy and fault tolerance.

* Maintaining the Disaster Recovery Plan and participate in annual testing. 

* Monitoring and establishing procedures to maximize productivity and to minimize errors.

* Interface with departments to understand current and future projects to insure the systems programming group is capable of meeting the demands of future growth. 

* In depth knowledge of project planning and management techniques.



To qualify for this career opportunity you MUST HAVE:

* At least 7 YEARS HANDS ON MAINTENANCE AND INSTALLATION experience in an OS/390 and z/OS/MVS environment.

* Solid knowledge of MVS, JES2, CICS, RACF, SMP/E, RMM and other IBM and 3rd party vendor mainframe utility software.

* Knowledge of Websphere software a plus.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, plus the ability to perform as a team member.

* Extensive problem diagnosis and problem solving skills within a complex fast paced environment.

* Knowledge of system monitoring, performance and utilization abilities as well as Capacity Planning.  * The ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, to staff and management.

* College degree and Certification are a definite plus
