Systems Programmer (#4350937) Posted: 03/14/2008 NEWARK, NJ USA - Starts: 03/17/2008 Ends: 04/25/2008 Description: ISSI will perform services in-support of clients DB2 migration from version 7 to version 8. The client has four DB2 environments: one for systems programming, one for application testing and two for production applications. Version 8 has been installed in the systems programming environment and migrated to Version 8 and tested. The client needs assistance in migrating Version 8 to the remaining three environments from Version 7 to Version 8, first in compatibility mode, followed by migration of all four environments to full function mode. Pre-Migration Planning Assess the current DB2 environments and the status of the DB2 V8 installation process. Work with client to evaluate DB2 V8 release requirements and dependencies Review with client any z/OS DB2 dependent changes. Work with to review current DB2 V7 maintenance level & ensure correct level prior to migration. Research DB2 V8 PUT and PTF maintenance level - resolve hold action(s) "binding, rebinding, etc" Assess client application environment and determine if any adjustments are required for incompatibilities. Ensure version 8 sample objects are available for migration. Assess client EBCDIC and ASCII CCSID coding. Assess fall-back strategy. Work with client to perform pre-migration queries. Migration / Post Migation of DB2 System Work with client to perform supplied migration process: Run DB2 Link Checker against environment Query subsystem to identify invalid plans and packages and bind and needed. Verify consistency between catalog tables. Verify that user databases are in consistent state (ready) for migration. Validate current image copies and generate new ones. Tailor DB2 version 8 catalog. Implement client application changes to address incompatibilities with new release. Evaluate new-function mode. Setup / convert compile PROCS for version 8 Review DB2 SMF and RMF data regarding DB2 V8. Identify and correct potential performance bottlenecks. Work with client using supplied process to enable new-function mode. Assist client in preparing and installing the XML Extender feature in each DB2 environment.
