Job Description Job Summary: An Analyst 3 - Application Development is responsible for all aspects of designing, developing, deploying and maintaining applications on multiple types of computer hardware and operating systems at Constellation Energy (CEG) and affiliate companies. Must have experience with field hardware as well as software. Specifically, strong Oracle Sys. Admin. and SQL Plus experience. Hardware experience with Serial and Ethernet communications, supervised circuit knowledge, CISCO networking and firewalls, general network architecture knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Reports To: Supervisor/Project Manager in associated department. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (*essential job functions) . Gathers information, analyzes requirements and business processes and information systems of a more complex nature. Develops and confirms project specifications and may provide assistance to less experienced personnel. . Works independently to develop practical, workable, cost-effective solutions to business problems to satisfy client requirements. Provides assistance/mentors less experienced personnel and advises on technology choices. . Actively participates in the management and optimization of computing resources. . May coordinate activities of the project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs. Takes action to stay on schedule and maintain costs. . Acts as a source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff. . Effectively researches, analyzes, and identifies current and emerging technology trends/products/concepts that can improve the teams or clients business process. Job Specifications: Knowledge: . In-depth understanding of concepts, practices and procedures in a specific field of functional and/or technical activity. . In-depth understanding of business unit needs to provide optimal IT support within their functional area. . Continually develops current knowledge of and compliance with Constellation Energy IT preferred technologies and methodologies, corporate policies, technology standards, product standards, version standards, change management and project management standards. Encourages adherence to standards within the team. . Enhances technical and professional knowledge and skills through the use of trade journals, seminars, courses, etc. . Knowledge of / experience with application development languages, utilities, life cycle methodology and monitoring tools. . Knowledge of / experience with relational and/or object oriented databases. Ability to design, code, test, debug, document and implement simple to complex software applications. . Ability to install, test, implement and upgrade packaged application software from simple to complex. . Ability to use multiple development platforms including the web. . Ability to develop and implement application recovery plans and procedures. . Ability to monitor application performance, recommend and implement improvements. . Ability to collaborate with internal staff, clients and IT Management on all aspects of an applications lifecycle (inception - retirement). . Ability to provide effective communications to internal staff, clients and IT Management regarding application or project status, issues, outages, etc. . Ability to assist the Technology Business Office (TBO) with contract management associated with application licenses. . Ability to produce quality application documentation including requirements, design, test procedures, support logs, help desk procedures, etc. Education/Experience: . Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline or the equivalent combination of formal education and experience. . Minimum 4 years related technology experience. . At least 4 years of related experience in a corporation of comparable size and complexity, including at least 2 years specialized experience in related field.
