Description: 119293 Description This is a Junior Application Developer position who will develop an application suite used for Trade Capture, Reconciliations and for maintaining our Security Master and Reference Data. The Application Suite is used by Front Office Traders, Middle Office and Back Office personnel. The Application Suite is used globally by users in New York, Chicago, Delaware, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. As an Application Developer/Analyst, you will provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing applications within mature technology environments for the Investment Bank's Proprietary Trading Business. You will utilize mature (3rd or 4th Generation) programming methodologies and languages and adhere to coding standards, procedures and techniques while contributing to the technical code documentation. You will participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution. You will participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations, incorporate security requirements into design, and provide input to information/data flow, and understand and comply to Project Life Cycle Methodology in all planning steps. You will also adhere to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and testing and incorporate Corporate Architectural Standards into application design specifications. Additionally, you will document the detailed application specifications, translate technical requirements into programmed application modules and develop/Enhance software application modules. You will participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications, identify/troubleshoot application code-related issues, and review and provide feedback to the final user documentation. You will also have additional responsibility with application support. You will be required to quickly analyze problems, clearly explain problem and solution to users, and quickly resolve issues to meet deadlines. Responsibilities 1. Development of our Trade Capture, Reconciliation, Security Master, and Reference Data applications. 2. Analyze Business Requirements. 3. Write Functional and Technical Specifications. 4. Develop Code and Integrate with Existing Modules. 5. Coordinate User Acceptance Testing. 6. Analyze Production Issues and Provide Support to End Users. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with front office, middle office, and other application developers. Candidate should have ability to identify and clearly communicate problems/support requests in order to influence the prioritization of production defects and/or enhancements This position will support the Proprietary Trading Business. This is a global trading business which actively manages fixed income, derivative, credit, and equity portfolios. Trading activity spans most major financial markets and includes several asset classes including: government and agency debt, mortgages, loans, corporate bonds, equity shares, equity derivatives, interest rate swaps and swaptions, interest rate futures, and bond and interest rate options. Required Skills 1-2 years of Application Development experience with exposure to all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle. 1-2 years of experience with VBA and//or experience with Excel and writing macros. 1-2 years JAVA programming. 1-2 years JavaScript. 1-2 years XSLT. 1-2 Years Relational Database Design and Programming. Experience with Sybase preferred, but other platforms will be considered. 1-2 years of Perl and/or Unix shell scripting. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Desired(Plus) Skills Experience with MQ Series. Experience with Servlets. Experience with EJB. Experience with WinRunner to perform automated regression testing. Experience with ANT. Experience with Eclipse. Knowledge of version control practices and procedures. Experience with ClearCase and Subversion preferred, but other platforms will be considered. Knowledge of financial markets, especially understanding of Fixed Income, Equity, and Derivative Securities Processing
