It is interesting to see that conservatives actually believe that
"control" of the electoral process is supposed to be an ideal of
democracy rather than a sign of totalitarianism.

This will all bash out just fine either before or at the convention:
which is where nominees are traditionally meant to be chosen, after a
campaign that is neither "clean" nor orderly nor pre-determined. We have
grown perhaps too comfortable with the machined political process of
recent times, and forgotten that democracy is NOT supposed to be "run"
like an efficinet business, or "run" AT ALL: democracy is at it's best
when it is noisy, full of debate and clashes.

And I cannot imagine (and I have a pretty fair imagination) that ANY
Democratic (or even Republican) president could be more chaotic and
downright inept than the dimblubs who have had their little putz party
for the last eight (long) years. I also cannot imagine that what emerges
from either party will come anywhere near satisfying my ideals of "good
governance" (whatever that might be: it's been a long time since I've
seen one); but that's another kettle of rotten fish.

Actually, "order" is a vastly overrated quality when it comes to culture
and society: a little "chaos" is as close to freedom as most of us will
ever get. Order is as good a synonym for authoritarian control as I can
think of right off.
