2) In 1975, The Communists came in for the kill this time without
having to face the enormous fire power of the US Air forces and the
Offshore artillery shelling. And They ended the War.
The South Vietnamese was completely demoralized with the North
Vietnamese Tanks advancing 1000 km in less than a month, much faster
than Rommel's and Patton's blitzkrieg in WW2.
The reason of this success was the Vietkong , not the quality of the
Communist Generals such as Le Trong Tan, Nguyen Huu An, Chu Huy Man
and Van Tien Dung or the quality of the Soviet T34 tanks .
The Vietkong that Ong kovan and the Puppets thought to have completely
destroyed in 1968 had fully reconstituted thereby allowing the
Communist main forces to advance freely without having to worry about
their barely defended rear would be used as a staging point for the
ARVN counteroffensive. The reconstituted Vietkong disarmed the ARVN
and sent them home. They ensured security and food/gas supply for
the people and for the PLA in the liberated zones.
The vanguard of Vietkong units served as guides , dirty tricks
dispensers and propagandists for the Regular PLA soldiers thereby
greatly demoralize the Puppet Troops who fled without fighting. They
were able to reduce the casualties from both side 100 fold from the
expected hundreds of thousands, a real blood bath, to a few
thousands.
So why the Vietkong who were so bloodthirsty in 1968 were so
magnanimous in 1975 ?
This is a legitimate question because after all they are the same run
of the mill VC , i.e., un-educated peasants summarily indoctrinated
with a few lecture in Patriotism and in Class struggle, as rhe
Bloodthirsty Vietkong of the Mau Than 's holocaust
There were no plausible explanation if one were to believe in the
scenario of the massacre as told and retold by the Vietzankonghoa.
